Motion Blur in Photography

Motion Blur is one of the best ways to simulate movement in photography. Motion blur is the blur that follows a moving object in a photograph.

I took this photo using a high shutter speed on a Canon Rebel, so it had a lot of motion blur. you can see the blur around the female dancer and on the arm of the guy in red. When I took this photo, the female dancer was waving around a long scarf and the guy in red was hitting the drum. The motion blur shows that they were moving when the photo was taken.

Motion Blur is important in photography because it shows movement and can help with explaining a photo's content. The best way to capture motion blur is to set your shutter speed to 1/80th of a second. I set my shutter speed to about 1/60th of a second and it resulted in a large amount of motion blur.

Motion blur can result in some really cool shots and can simulate the speed of the moving object. If an object in a photograph has a lot of motion blur, it will look like it's moving faster, while an object with little or no motion blur will look slower.
