Pop Art

Pop Art was a visual art movement that arose during the mid 1950s. Pop art is given it's character by it's bold and colorful art style. Pop Art is representative of showing what was relevant at the time and what was popular. For example, four months after Marilyn Monroe had passed, artist Andy Warhol made two paintings of Marilyn Monroe, one using repetition and bright colors to display her presence in the media, and the other using vibrant dark colors to convey her following and her death.

The artwork below is Pop Art of Marilyn Monroe made by Andy Warhol.

This artist's work is considered Pop Art because it showcased popular culture at the time. This piece was created four months after Marilyn Monroe had died and the artwork featured her image many times to display her presence in the media.

Andy Warhol's art features bright colors and repetition of one object to reference it's presence in society at the time. Some of his works are of celebrities who have sadly passed, such as Jackie Kennedy and Elvis Presley.

I picked this artist because I like his use of repetition and bright colors. His use of bright, vibrant colors really caught my eye. Repetition using different colors in my opinion is a simple, yet very creative way to portray an image.
